I'm in Montana and for some used items I have to shop nationally and then figure out shipping. I purchased a big coffee kiosk in the Bay Area and the seller needed it moved out immediately. The best uShip bid was from a provider who specializes in large individual items with quick pickup and a longer span of time for delivery. That's a perfect fit for my needs and, because they consolidate partial shipments, their bid was very attractive. It worked out perfectly. And I can't think of a way, other than uShip, where I would've found a national shipper I can use whenever I'm in a similar situation, while still being open to just-in-time bids from individual shippers who happen to be heading my way.
