I am an artist with a studio in New York City. When I have to ship artwork to a client or for a show, it can be very tricky finding a safe and reasonable way to ship the work. I am in a show in Charlottesville, VA and needed to ship 10 oil paintings there. Another artist friend said they had used a soft-pack/trucking method and it had worked. I had no idea where to find a good trucking source and using google, found uship. It took part of a morning to figure out how to list the shipment, but once I did I got bids almost right away. While my first match cancelled, within a few hours I got several more bids. I realized it would be better for me to bubblewrap the artwork myself, but otherwise I was able to get a second match and the work was safely delivered within 2 days. It is important to be careful with details, expectations and communications, and if you do, I think uship is a very useful marketplace for shipping.
