I tialed my kitchen floor about 3 years ago from tiles I bought at Home Depot. When we added on to the garage, we added a mud room adjacent to the kitchen. I wanted to buy some new, matching tiles for this mud room floor but Home Depot, and all other vendors, no longer carried this color. I finally found a seller on the internet who had the right number, color, and model number of these tiles but he was in Connecticut and I am in Florida and that was when this situation got difficult!
At first, a friend of mine used his UPS account to have UPS freight pick up the pallet at the residence of the seller. But, after several days, I called UPS (UPS never called me) and they told me they don't pick up at residences. Scratch UPS freight.
Then I called Fedex. The boxes were not in good condition and the seller was unwilling to box them. Plus, I was concerned about the fragility of tiles being shipped.
My next call was to Fedex Freight. The ground service would not pick up at a residence either, like UPS freight, but would provide air service - for $1500!
Finally, I went on uship.com. I got a match and my tiles were delivered within a week for $300. The tiles have been installed and the mud room looks like a continuation of the kitchen rather than a separate room the way we want it.
My only other alternative would have been to fly to Boston, rent a minivan, pick up the tiles myself, drive them to Florida over 2 days . This would have been much more expensive and killed 3 days.
Thank you uship.
